Chisholm's International English Language Centre attracts international students from a range of different regions – South East Asia, Asia, India, Europe and South America.
Joining the mix at the Centre are also people from Melbourne's own diverse cultural communities, who are perhaps visiting from overseas on a work or holiday visa.
This variety of students with different language and cultural backgrounds adds to students' educational experience and encourages more communication in English.
The Centre offers a range of English language courses for further vocational and academic study, business and professional purposes, international communication and personal development.
Study with the best English language teachers
The ELICOS teachers at Chisholm are famous for their high standard as well as their friendly support. They are highly qualified, all with post graduate teaching degrees and are passionate about helping students improve their English skills.
As well as their qualifications, many of our teachers have a thorough knowledge of other cultures and are able to use this knowledge to cater for cultural differences in their teaching approach. In fact, many have worked overseas and can speak other languages.
English Language and study skills support
This support is available to international students in all courses and at all locations. The ongoing program helps students to adjust to the requirements of the Australian education environment.
An English Language teacher is available by appointment and without charge. Support is provided to help students improve their English skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Other program topics are provided, such as understanding assessment criteria; research skills; oral presentation skills; structuring assignments and familiarisation with Australian English.
Chisholm is fully accredited for quality delivery of ELICOS
Chisholm Institute is a NEAS (National ELT Accreditation Scheme Limited) accredited English Language Centre which is the Australian standard for quality delivery of ELICOS programs. It is also a member of English Australia, the national peak industry association representing ELICOS providers.
