Health Cover
You are required by the Australian Government to join an Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Scheme and hold health insurance for the duration of your student visa. OSHC is designed to cover the costs for medical and hospital care that you or any family members accompanying you may need while in Australia, without causing you undue financial hardship.
Chisholm’s preferred provider is OSHC Worldcare. Policy information can be obtained via their website at www.oshcworldcare.com.au. When you apply to Chisholm, you have the option of Chisholm organising your OSHC Worldcare policy for you. By indicating this option and signing Chisholm’s application form, students agree to the terms and conditions of OSHC Worldcare and their policies. OSHC Worldcare Essentials includes:
• no waiting period for both in-hospital and out-of-hospital treatment for psychiatric pre-existing conditions
• no waiting periods for cover in relation to pregnancy related services.
There are also 3 cover options, depending on who you are travelling with in Australia: single, dual family and multi family. The cost of 12 months cover is approximately:
|
Single |
A$395 |
|
Dual Family |
A$990 |
|
Multi Family |
A$1,975 |
Dual family
Covers 1 valid student visa holder, plus either 1 adult spouse or recognised de-facto partner or 1 or more dependent children.
Multi family
Covers 1 student visa holder, plus more than 1 dependent, which can only include one adult spouse or recognised de-facto partner, and one or more dependent children.
Please note: Doctors are available close to all campuses. A list of local medical centres and health providers is given to the students at their orientation.
