Support Services at Chisholm 

Orientation

When you accept your offer you will receive a confirmation letter which provides you with the date, time and location of your orientation program.

 

English and Study skills

English and study skills teachers and support staff are available to help you adjust to studying in Australia. This ongoing service is available to you free of charge. Support and teachers are on campus to help you improve your listening, speaking, writing and reading skills as well as your comprehension skills. Assistance is also available to help you understand and interpret assessment criteria, develop assignment plans, develop your research skills and your oral presentation skills.

 

Student Counselling

Qualified counsellors are available to support you through adjusting to life in Australia, personal and relationship issues, academic and study problems, and any other problem or worry you might have. Counselling sessions are free of charge, with both male and female counsellors are available.

 

International Student Course Coordinators

All teaching departments at Chisholm have a nominated International Student Course Coordinator. This teacher is on hand to assist you with any questions you may have and will refer you to services or other Chisholm departments if necessary. This teacher will monitor attendance and course progression of all students and ensure you are aware of your course requirements.

 

Recreation and Fun

Join a Chisholm club or society – or create your own!

Chisholm Student Liaison Unit runs many activities for students to relax and have fun – on campus activities, day trips and overnight stays at some of Victoria’s and Australia’s most popular tourist destinations.

 

Libraries and study areas

Students may borrow a range of resources from libraries located on each campus. Library staff are available to help you find resources such as books, DVDs, videos and web resources. You also have access to online databases so you can access current journals, newspapers and magazines. All libraries have computers for researching and accessing online resources.

 

Computer labs

All campuses are well equipped with computer labs and are wi-fi connected allowing students to access the wireless internet service.

 

Cafés

Student cafés are situated on each campus and offer a range of hot and cold foods, drinks, snacks, coffees and ice creams. Food outlets and supermarkets are located within close distance to each campus.

 

Bookshops

The bookshop provides an easy and convenient way for students to purchase books, stationary supplies, uniforms and equipment for their course.

 

Prayer rooms

Chisholm provides dedicated prayer room facilities for all students and staff at Dandenong, Berwick and Frankston campuses.
