Course pre-requisites
For the majority of courses at Chisholm you need to have completed Australian year 12 or equivalent, or apply under mature age entry with relevant work experience. Some courses will also accept Year 11 equivalent.
Students who do not speak English as their first language, or for whom English was not the language of instruction at school, are required to meet a minimum IELTS level of 5.5 (academic). Some courses require a higher level of English prior to entry; details are available in individual course listings. Other tests are now accepted, the equivalent scores are listed below.
PTE English test scores now accepted
Chisholm now accepts PTE (Pearson Test of English Academic) scores under the English requirements for our courses, in addition to IELTS and TOEFL.
The Australian Government has announced that these tests will now be accepted for student visa applications, from all countries.
International students who do not meet the English requirements of their course can complete an ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students) program prior to commencing the course. For information about the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s (DIAC) English requirements, visit the DIAC website.
