Where students under the age of 18 are not being cared for by a parent or suitably nominated relative, Chisholm can become the legal custodian.

In this situation, Chisholm is responsible for a student until he/she is 18 years of age unless an alternative custodianship has been approved by Chisholm.

 Students under 18 are required to live in a homestay arrangement until the age of 18.
